Off-the-Shoulder Blouse

Top: Shein (c/o) | Bag: Shein | Necklace: Kendra Scott (similar)
Shoes: Forever 21 | Shorts: June and Beyond (similar)

I can't even count the number of times of worn off-the-shoulder tops/dresses/rompers this summer. I love how simple they are and how easily they can dress up an outfit.  While shooting these outfit photos with Jacy from Love Lenore the heat index was 110 so this outfit was great when it came to the heat as well. The top is lightweight so it won't stick to your skin, but sturdy enough to wear a strapless bra underneath. I am also obsessed with my bag from Shein. It's very good quality and looks much more expensive than what I paid (only $30!!).

Olive Off-the-Shoulder

Top | Shorts (my favorite this summer!) | Booties

I have been wearing so many printed dresses and rompers this summer, but sometimes a simple top and denim cutoffs are the best look. I am absolutely loving these booties with shorts and I think these will look adorable with dresses as well. I had been wanting these forever and finally splurged and I am so glad I did. Don't forget to read my Nordstrom sale post here... things are going fast so shop now to get your sizes in your top picks! Thanks for reading...xo Brianna

Current Lip Favorites

I have been wanting to incorporate more beauty posts into Gingham & Glam! Makeup is something I love doing (not a professional by any means!) so why not share it with you guys occasionally!
I hope you enjoy this post and let me know what other beauty posts you would like to see in the future!

This color is my go to for an everyday color that isn't matte, but isn't super glossy either. I've gone through almost two tubes of this since last summer.  When I don't know what color I feel like I always reach for this one.

Not only is this such a pretty pinky-purple shade, but it's only $1! Say what? I love that this is bright without being too much.

So can you tell I like pinks? ;) I pretty much don't stray from the pinky/nude family. I never really wore matte lips until this summer and this was a great one to get me started. Like the name soft matte would imply, it goes on your lips really nicely and doesn't feel super dry like most matte lipsticks.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in 'Midi'

Apparently this lip is supposed to be a really good dupe for one of the Kylie Lip Kits (Candy K) and since I wasn't about to hand over $30 for the Kylie Kit I decided to try this $6 guy. This is my first true matte lip believe it or not and at first I felt like I couldn't even talk with it on (laugh cry emoji), but now I love it! They are really drying (all super matte lippies tend to be), but I always just make sure to put chapstick on when I start doing my makeup and be sure to wipe all of it off before applying the lipstick. It's a nice way to prime your lips. I also always put chapstick on before bed.

I hope you guys enjoyed this beauty post and I will try to do more posts like this in the future!

White Top + Flares

Jeans: Kut From The Kloth | Top: Show Me Your Mumu  (wearing size medium for looser fit)
Bag: Shein (only $30!) | Shoes: Forever 21 | Necklace: Kendra Scott (similar)

Honestly I never thought that I would be the one to rock the flares trend. I have really short legs (I am 5'5, but my legs are extra short LOL) and didn't really think I could pull this look off. Now that I have tried it I can tell you that I regret not wearing these sooner! I think that they are SO flattering, they really elongate your legs. The other issue I had was not wearing them because every pair I find is way too long (wearing 5in shoes in these) but with the raw hem trend being so in right now you could seriously just cut the hem right off them for an edgier look.

Summer Salad + Lucky U Box

I'm doing something a little different on Gingham and Glam today... an easy summer salad recipe! So just a little disclaimer, I am a terrible cook, but trying to learn some easy recipes. This recipe is a video I saw on Facebook; however, when I do cook I am not the type of person to look at a recipe for measurements so I just kind of go with it and mix things together and hope it works out! LOL

Here's what you will need:

Chicken
Olive Oil
Garlic Cloves
Chili Powder
Limes
Honey
Salt & Pepper
Onion
Avocado
Lettuce
Tomato

First, you are going to want to marinade your chicken. I just put olive oil, minced garlic, chili powder, a little honey, juice of one lime and let the chicken sit for about 30 minutes (wouldn't hurt to do longer, but I was starving!). While the chicken was marinating I made the salad and dressing!

This dressing is SO simple, but so good! All it is is olive oil, juice from half of a lime, salt, pepper, and a little honey. Like I said I never measure anything oops so I basically just added these together and taste tested a few times!

For the actual salad part I used about half a heart of Romaine lettuce, a whole avocado, some onion, and grape tomato! You can always add more or less of these, whatever your preference is. I basically live on avocado during the summer so I used a whole one, but half would be plenty if you are making a salad for one person

After your chicken is done cooking, (I just cooked mine on a stove, but you could also grill it!) slice and put on your salad with the dressing.
& voila! Not only is this simple to make, but the ingredients are super simple and healthy!

So speaking of healthy eating...I just got my first Lucky U Box in the mail last week and it's adorable. Such a great idea that was created by two moms after their kids went to college. If you haven't heard of Lucky U Box, it is a care package that you can send to college students (or anyone really!). These boxes are filled with all kinds of yummy (healthy) snacks and simple items that college students like myself will find useful and fun. This box had a face mask that I already used and loved and adorable little mini cactus erasers! They even have special theme boxes like their birthday box and a greek themed box. I would love to receive one of these boxes while away at college. So go ahead and visit their website to see what it's all about for yourself and maybe pass the link along to your parents!

Thanks Lucky U Box for sponsoring this post!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you haven't been hiding under a rock you probably have heard about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (#NSale) that opened to the public today! WOO! The best part about this sale is that it's all new fall items and when August 8th rolls around all the prices will go up! This sale is a great time to buy those investment pieces that rarely go on sale. I already got this bag ($129, $195 after sale) and this perfume ($52, $98 after sale). The bag feels super high quality and will match a ton this fall. I always seem to go back to this perfume. It's not the most unique scent in the world because I think a lot of people wear it, but I always get compliments when I wear it and it was such a good deal for such a big bottle! I really want this bag and sweater and I already ordered these over the knee boots ! I think they will great fall basics that I will wear again and again. What are you guys planning on getting from the sale?

Check out some other things I have my eye on below...

Embroidered Dress

Dress: June and Beyond Boutique (shop their site here or via Instagram!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Booties: Jeffrey Campbell

I am completely obsessed with this dress. It is perfect for super hot days (it was about 95 degrees while shooting these pictures!) and will definitely transition into fall. This may look like Free People at first glance, but it's actually just a really good copycat! this one is less than a third of the price and the quality is pretty impressive for the price (just $48!)
Something I like to do in terms of my blog and personal style in general is spend less on clothing and splurge on the accessories that go with the outfit. Or for example I might be wearing a super affordable top and shoes with designer jeans! It's always good to mix in those affordable pieces and dress them up. These Jeffrey Campbells were a splurge for me, but I seriously LOVE them. They are super unique, but go with literally everything. My favorite part about them is being able to wear them now with shorts and dresses or later with leggings and jeans.
